| One of Shakeepares most enduring comedies, this time the directors Angie Higgins and Sharon Salazar set the tale in the Old West with fantastic results. A first rate cast, production design and direction make this one of the best productions I have ever been a part of. Actually I was not, at first, a part of it. After working behind the scenes the previous year for Shady and just coming off performing in The Foreigner I had not auditioned for Shrew or its season partner Romeo and Juliet, fully planning on taking the Suummer off. However just as rehearsals had begun one of the cast was called up to be deployed to Iraq! So a couple of Shady Veterans were also called up as well for much less hazardous duty, as I took over the role of Gremio and Matt Singer took the other role of Paris in R&J. I got the better end of the deal methinks! The rest is history, And what happened to the actor who was called up to Iraq? He returned safely back to the states after his tour and, as karma would have it, was cast as the lead, Orlando, in the Shady's 2009 Season show As You Like It! |
