| One of Shakespeares' most enduring tragedies. I had always wanted to play the Friar, since I had played his counterpart in Much Ado About Nothing. With good friends Dawn E. Cates, Pat Cross and Nina Breton in the cast it should have been fun. Instead it serves as an example of one of the worst theatre experiences in my life. The immaturity of certain cast members made this show a trial for me and only through strength of will did I not commit murder. The show actually challenged me as to whether I would continue with theatre and only the timely casting in Antony and Cleopatra at Subterranian Shakespeare, and the good time I had on that production, kept me in the game. Despite the backstage drama, the production itself was top notch and I doubt any of the theatre goers noticed the strain. In the end, I am not one to hold grudges and hope that those who were less than professional at this juncture in their lives have grown in the time since this production. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
