| Production Synopsis: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In 2002 I took a sabbatical, leaving my job as a customer sevice manager for local software company. It had been the job from hell and had burned me out. But I had made enough money to take a year off before worrying about working again. To make sure I had someting to show for this indulgence, I sat down and wrote "Regrets". It was based on a idea I had been considering for some time. After numerous rewrites after reviews by friends, I had the final draft completed about May of 2002. At that time I was working with Nina Breton on our second show together that year, "Antony and Cleopatra". The previous show had been "Romeo and Juliet" and the third show we had both just been cast in was "Much Ado About Nothing". Are you sensing a trend? Nina had been one of the people who had read the play and made suggestions. As we moved on to "Much Ado" Nina was offered a chance to direct something for Califonia Travel Troupe, which she had worked with in Edinburgh during the Fringe Festival. The Troupe was putting on a one-act play festival. Nina asked me if she could submit my play as the one she wanted to direct, which I agreed to. The Troupe agreed to produce it and the rest is history! In January of 2003 "Regrets" had its debut in San Francisco and according to the producers it was very well received by those in attendance. I will always be greatful to Nina for giving my play the opportunity. |
